BeatCut End-User License Agreement
This English translation is provided for convenience. If it differs from the French version, the French version prevails.
Last updated: October 26, 2026
This agreement is entered into between you (“the user”) and [name / company name] (“the publisher”). By installing or using BeatCut, you accept these terms.
1. License granted
The publisher grants you a personal, non-exclusive and non-transferable license to use BeatCut:
- Free: with no time limit, with the export restrictions of this edition (resolution, length, watermark, BeatCut ad);
- Plus and Pro: with the features of the purchased edition, for the duration of the subscription.
A key can be active on one computer at a time. You can transfer it to another computer by releasing it from the software, within the limit set by the license.
2. Videos you create
The videos you export belong to you: you can publish and use them, including for commercial purposes. In the Free edition, they include a watermark and a short BeatCut ad, which must be kept.
3. Your content
BeatCut edits the files you provide to it (videos, music, images, fonts). You warrant that you hold the necessary rights to this content and to its publication. The publisher does not see these files: they stay on your computer.
4. Synthetic voices (hypno sessions)
The “Hypno session” module (Pro edition) reads a script with a synthetic voice. Three sources are available:
- Built-in voices, downloaded on demand and used on your computer:
- “Studio” voices: Supertonic 3 model by Supertone Inc., under the OpenRAIL-M license;
- “Classic” voices: Piper models trained on recordings published under the CC BY 4.0 license (Multilingual LibriSpeech, LibriTTS), in the public domain (LibriVox, LJ Speech) or from the M-AILABS Speech Dataset.
- ElevenLabs or Fish Audio, with your own key: the text of the script is sent to them and the synthesis is billed to your account. Their terms apply to this use; for example, Fish Audio prohibits sexually explicit content.
- Your own recording.
When you publish a video whose voice comes from a built-in voice, ElevenLabs or Fish Audio, you must clearly state that this voice is computer-generated.
The OpenRAIL-M license of the “Studio” voices imposes the following restrictions. You agree not to use these voices, or the files produced with them:
- in violation of any applicable law or regulation;
- to exploit, harm or attempt to exploit or harm minors in any way;
- to generate or disseminate verifiably false information for the purpose of harming others;
- to generate or disseminate personal data that can be used to harm an individual;
- to generate or disseminate content in any context without expressly and intelligibly disclaiming that it is machine-generated;
- to defame, disparage or otherwise harass others;
- to impersonate or attempt to impersonate others (for example through deepfakes) without their consent;
- for fully automated decision-making that adversely impacts an individual's legal rights or that creates or modifies a binding, enforceable obligation;
- with the purpose or effect of discriminating against or harming individuals or groups based on their social behavior or known or predicted personal characteristics;
- to exploit any of the vulnerabilities of a specific group of persons based on their age or their social, physical or mental characteristics, in order to materially distort their behavior in a manner that causes, or is likely to cause, physical or psychological harm to those persons or to others;
- with the purpose or effect of discriminating against individuals or groups based on legally protected characteristics;
- to provide medical advice or interpret medical results;
- for the administration of justice, law enforcement, immigration or asylum processes, for example to predict that an individual will commit fraud or a crime.
The original text of this license, in English, is installed with BeatCut (folder resources/sherpa/licenses)
and prevails in case of any difference. Sessions created with BeatCut are neither a treatment nor medical advice, and do not
replace a healthcare professional.
5. Prohibited uses
Except where permitted by law, you may not: resell, rent or distribute the software or a license key; share a key with other people; circumvent or disable the licensing system; remove the watermark or the ad of the Free edition by any means other than purchasing a license.
6. Third-party components
BeatCut relies on free and open-source software, distributed under its own licenses:
- FFmpeg (ffmpeg.org), shipped as a separate program, under the GNU GPL version 3 license. Its license text is
installed with BeatCut (folder
resources\ffmpeg). The corresponding source code is available at ffmpeg.org and gyan.dev/ffmpeg/builds; it can also be requested from [email address] for three years. - The built-in voice engine: sherpa-onnx (Apache 2.0), which contains espeak-ng (GNU GPL version 3), and
ONNX Runtime (MIT). It is shipped as a separate program. Its licenses, the description of the modifications
made and the address of its corresponding source code are installed with BeatCut (folder
resources/sherpa). The source code is available free of charge at the/sources/address of the BeatCut server, and on request from [email address] for three years. - Electron and Chromium (MIT, BSD and other licenses, detailed in the
LICENSES.chromium.htmlfile in the installation folder).
These licenses give you rights to these components that are not limited by this agreement.
7. Connections and updates
BeatCut goes online to check the license, download updates (installed when the software is closed) and, at your request, look up the lyrics of a track. Details are provided in the Privacy Policy.
8. Warranty and liability
BeatCut is provided with the legal warranties applicable to digital content. Outside these warranties and cases where the law prohibits it, the publisher's liability is limited to the amount paid for the license over the last twelve months. Remember to keep a copy of your original files.
9. Termination
The license ends when the subscription expires, when the purchase is refunded, or in the event of a breach of these terms. The software then switches back to the Free edition.
10. Governing law
This agreement is governed by French law, without depriving consumers of the mandatory provisions of their country of residence.
